If you're not an L.A.-scene regular, chance are you haven't heard of the trip-hop band Boomkat yet. That's because 22-year-old singer Taryn Manning and her brother Kellin, 27, have only put out one demo tape - recorded in Kellin's bedroom - but already the Arizona-raised siblings have multiple record companies fighting for dibs on them. Plus, Taryn plays the part of a singing punk in the upcoming White Oleander with Michelle Pfeiffer. And one of Boomkat's folktronica-sounding tunes will appear in next year's Crossroads, which also stars Britney Spears. "We sang sooooo much together," Taryn says, giggling about her Britney bond on the set. "Tamra [Davis, the director] would sometimes be like, 'Shut up!'"
