Within less than 10 years, waifish beauty Taryn Manning has had memorable roles in over 30 films including 8 Mile, Cold Mountain, and Brittney Spears starrer Crossroads. She is also an accomplished musician and dancer, forming the band Boomkat with older brother Kellin in 2003. Their debut album Boomkatalog.One’s first single The Wreckoning hit 1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts, and is on the soundtrack for hit film The Italian Job.

Not contented to stop at triple threat, Taryn is the co-creator of popular clothing line Born Uniqorn whose designs have draped popular celebs such as Lindsay Lohan and Tori Spelling.

In 2006, Taryn was nominated for Screen Actors Guild and Washington DC Area Film Critics Association awards for her breakthrough performance in Oscar-winning film Hustle & Flow.

Noisetap caught up with her on the set of the music video (see it here) for Runaway, the haunting first single off upcoming album A Million Trillion Stars. Even in the midst of the madness on set, Taryn was calm and charming, open and honest about topics ranging from her creative process, to the madness of Hollywood, to her tight, toned abs.

NoiseTap: So, Runaway is really a beautiful song.

Taryn Manning: Awesome, thank you!

NT: What was your creative process? How did it all come together?

TM: Well, I was at kind of a low point, and down on the music business, and I started listening to some of my brother Kellin’s old beats and this one really hit me. So I sat down and started writing and this song just kind of flowed out.

The music video for the song “Runaway” has been released! You can view iton PerezHilton.com and on Youtube. Perez actually has nice things to say about the song, Taryn and Boomkat - so I’m very proud of that!

We usually HATE it when actors try to be musicians. They’re rarely able to do it well.

Thankfully, Taryn Manning is an exception!

We’ve always had a soft spot for her band, Boomkat, and now they’re finally back with NEW material.

Runaway is their first single and it’s a bit creepy watching the video because Taryn looks so much like Lindsay Lohan in it, but the song actually would be perfect for L.L.’s upcoming album.

It’s smart, sophisticated pop with a bit of a “chill-out” vibe. And, it sounds a bit autobiographical too.

In other site news, I’ve had major computer issues these past months so that’s why things got left pretty vacant. I’m back though (hopefully for good!) and I’m going to be playing catch up with everything really soon.

It sux when u miss somebody…..

hey hey again !!!!! so all ul who read these and my beautiful fans a course must trippin that im blogging so much. To be honest i am too. Just goes to show making a movie can be real boring sometimes for all of those people who wanna act sooooo bad.
ok ok I know i wont complain…. im working, i get it, aight??
Anyway, i havent been on set today so i dont know if Bai Ling is in another awful mood again. gosh i sure hope not it surely sux. Its funny too, the meaner and more lame you are on set the more people kiss your ass. Thats stoops huh? I never really understood that concept but its true. I tend to lean towards the nicer more laid back approach, its kinda like highschool which i hated. Just wanna keep quiet get it done then go home so i can make some music or go out with my friends to dinner. Yummy…..I miss L.A. I want AGO right now. Thats my favorite restaraunt.
I know i dont spell perf so i dont wanna hear any shit about my grammer. Im bored in my trailer and enjoying my new laptop.
So when i get back from making this movie my music is on………..like donkey kong!!!!!
Ill be playin a bunch around L.A. then hittin the road. Im also trying to time my record release just right !!! So be patient and you will love what you get.
Also, If you wanna see a dope movie go rent Weirdsville its out on dvd as of feb. 5, its a pretty funny movie starring Wes Bentley whos sooooo cool and Scott Speedman whos real cool too and MEEEEEEEEE.
Also, in April im starring in a romantic comedy with Freddy Prince Jr. thats real cute. You can peep my softer side…hahahahaha
It was hard to pull off but i did it.

Sittin in my trailer………..

Hey Hey,
Im just chillin in my trailer kinda bored waiting to shoot my next scene for today. Its valentines day and im stuck on set in new mexico but thats ok, im filming a pretty dope movie called Love Ranch. Its based on a true story about a real place called Mustang Ranch back in the 70’s. Its very sexy……..Anyway, i never talk shit but Bai Ling is crazy. Na mean?? She was late to set today because she was caught stealing last night at the airport before we all got on the plane. Is Intouch magazine and Us weekly and a pack of batteries worth that?? Haha. Sorry, just kills me. If she wasnt so mean id be nice right now.
Anyway, i put a new jam up called Elated today. Check it out…xoxoxoxoxo
